About Youngman Woollen Mills Pvt. Ltd – Textile in Ludhiana
Up on Rahon Road in Village Seera, the air smells a bit different when the wool is being processed. We’ve been running Youngman Woollen Mills for quite some time now. It’s a big old building, and you can hear the machines clacking from the street. We work with raw wool, cleaning it, spinning it, and getting it ready for whatever it’s going to become next. It’s dusty work, and the floors are always covered in little fibers, no matter how much we sweep. The workers here have been with us for years; some live just down the lane. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you walk in, you’re likely to run into someone carrying a heavy bale or checking the tension on a loom. When the monsoon hits, the roof leaks a little in the corner, so we have to move the stock around. It’s just one of those things you deal with. We focus on making sure the yarn is strong and the colors are what they’re supposed to be. There’s a lot of pride in seeing a finished roll of fabric come off the line, even if our hands are a bit rough from the grease and the fibers. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill around, just one that does the job right every day. The noise of the machinery is just part of our lives now. It feels strange when it's quiet on Sundays.
