Tripat Electricals is right near the railway crossing in Focal Point. You can hear the trains passing by all day long, which is something you just get used to after a week or two. The gates go down and everything stops for a few minutes, then the traffic starts up again with a lot of noise. Our shop is filled with all sorts of electrical parts, from thick rolls of wire to small plastic switches. Most of the time, the floor has bits of copper or plastic shavings on it. We don't have a big showroom with glass cases. It’s more of a place where people come when they need a specific part for a repair job. We keep everything in bins or stacked on wooden shelves that have seen better days. The light isn't great inside, so we usually keep the front shutters all the way up to let the sun in. Customers come in with old, broken parts and ask if we have the same thing in stock. Usually, we do, but sometimes we have to dig through the crates in the back room for a while. It’s a dusty job, and our hands are usually a bit dirty by the time we close. We take our lunch sitting on the stools behind the wooden counter. It’s a simple life here at Focal Point. We know most of the guys who work in the nearby factories. They drop in for a quick chat or a purchase.
