We are based near the Jalandhar By Pass, right at Suraj Hosiery. Being so close to the bypass means there is a constant hum of traffic and big trucks moving products across the country. We are involved in the hosiery business, so there is always the sound of machines and the smell of fresh fabric in the air. Our space is functional and built for production rather than looking pretty. We have big tables for cutting and sorting different items. It gets quite warm in here with all the machinery running but we are used to it. The Jalandhar area is famous for this kind of work and we are glad to be right in the middle of it. We don't have much of a front office; it's mostly just a workspace where the real job happens. We spend our hours checking the quality of the knits and making sure the orders are packed correctly. There are usually stacks of boxes waiting to be loaded onto trucks by the entrance. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for a long time. We drink our tea standing up most days because there is always something that needs to be moved or checked. It’s a busy life but we wouldn't have it any other way. The sun sets over the bypass and we usually work until the last truck is loaded for the night.
