Sikka Auto Industries

Sikka Auto Industries is tucked away in Street Number 11 here in Simlapuri. If you know Gill Road, you know how busy this whole area gets with all the workshops and trucks. We’ve been at this address, B-Xxi-4495/1, for a good amount of time. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but we like it. The shop is usually loud. We make auto components, and there’s always a press or a lathe running somewhere in the back. My family started this, and we just kept it going. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We have a few guys who have been with us for years. They know the machines better than I do sometimes. We mostly supply to other businesses around Punjab or wherever the orders come from. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to wait a bit, but that's just part of working in Ludhiana. We don’t have a website that we update or anything like that. People just call or show up at the gate. It's a practical business. We focus on the metal and making sure the dimensions are right. If a batch isn't good, we do it over. There’s no point in sending out bad work. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by the end of the day. We clean it up and start again the next morning. It's just a regular life here on Street 11, making parts and dealing with the daily grind.
