D. P. Gears

D. P. Gears sits on Street Number 6, just off Daba Road in the Shimla Puri area. It’s a busy spot and sometimes the noise from the street gets a bit loud, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend most of our days here surrounded by metal and grease. It’s not a fancy place by any means. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and there’s always a bit of iron dust on the floor no matter how much we sweep. People around here know where to find us. Usually, someone just walks in from the road because they have a machine part that isn’t working right or a gear that’s stripped its teeth. We just take a look, see what can be done, and get to work. It’s just me and a couple of other guys mostly. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. If the sun is out, it gets pretty warm inside the shop, so we keep the doors wide open to catch whatever breeze comes down the street. Most of our tools have been with us for a long time. They’re old but they still do the job fine. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city. We just stay here in Shimla Puri and handle whatever work comes through the door. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
