Sharma Watch Comapny

Up at Kamakshipalya near the Fountain Chowk, you’ll find Sharma Watch Comapny. It’s a busy intersection and there is always something going on outside the door. The shop isn't much to look at from the street, just a regular storefront with some watches in the window. Inside, it’s mostly just me and the sound of a dozen different clocks all ticking at slightly different times. I try to keep them synchronized but it’s a losing battle sometimes. People from the neighborhood come in when they need a new cell for their digital watch or when the glass gets cracked. I’ve got a stool that creaks every time I sit down to work on a movement. The light isn't the best in the back, so I have a big lamp clamped to the table. Fountain Chowk is a landmark around here, so people use us as a meeting point sometimes. I don't mind. It gets lonely just talking to watches all day. The floor is concrete and a bit uneven, and the paint on the walls has started to peel in the corners. I haven't bothered to fix it because the watches are more important. I take my time with the repairs. If a job needs an extra hour, it gets an extra hour. That’s just how it is. We aren't in a rush here, even if the world outside is moving fast. We just work until it's done for the day.
