Sharma Genral Store

We’ve got our shop set up at Shop No 3 in the Ataam Complex here in Ludhiana. It’s quite near Talab Mandir, so it’s easy enough for people to find us if they’re in the area. It’s a general store where we keep all the small things a household might run out of. From soap and shampoo to pens and snacks, we try to have a little bit of everything. The complex itself is usually busy with people coming and going. We spend most of our time standing behind the counter or restocking the shelves when things get low. It’s not a massive place, so we have to be smart about how we use the space. Some of the boxes stay stacked near the entrance because there’s nowhere else to put them until we open them up. We don’t have any fancy signs or lighting. It’s just a basic store for the local crowd. We see a lot of people who work in the nearby offices or live in the surrounding streets. They drop in for a cold drink or a pack of gum mostly. We’ve gotten to know the delivery drivers well since they’re here almost every day. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really backed up and it’s a bit noisy, but that’s just life in Ludhiana. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. It’s a simple business, but it keeps us busy and we like the people around here.
