Sham Sunder Architect

Our office is at House No.1395 on Street No.3 in Mandeep Nagar. It’s right near Rishi Nagar, so it’s easy to explain to people who know the area. The street is usually quiet, except for the occasional delivery bike or kids playing nearby. We started working out of this house because it felt right for the kind of work we do. It’s not like those glass buildings you see in the city center. Here, we can actually open the windows and hear what’s going on outside. Inside, there are a few rooms turned into workspaces. Sham stays in the main room mostly, surrounded by old files and some newer computer screens. We spend a lot of time talking about walls and roofs. Sometimes we disagree about where a window should go, and those conversations can go on for quite a while. The walls in the office are mostly covered with sketches and notes we’ve taped up so we don’t forget small details. It’s a small operation, just a few of us trying to keep up with the paperwork and the drawing schedules. We drink a lot of water because it gets hot in the afternoons, even with the fans going. It feels more like a home than an office most of the time, which we think helps us stay focused on the practical side of building things for people.
