Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Group (medical), Sarabha (ludhiana), Punjab

Our group is situated in a rural part of Sarabha, out in the Ludhiana district of Punjab. Being out in the countryside like this really shapes how we operate. We aren't like those big city medical centers with glass walls and fancy lobbies. Instead, we are a practical resource for the people living in the villages and the surrounding farmland. Most of our patients are folks who have lived in this area their whole lives, just like many of us. We deal with everything from common fevers to more serious injuries that happen during farm work. The pace is a little different here; people might stop and chat for a while after their appointment. We named the group after Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha because he’s a hero in these parts and we wanted to honor that history. The facility is well-kept but it’s definitely a rural setting. We don’t have a marketing department or a bunch of corporate rules to follow. We just focus on the people who need help. Sometimes the power goes out or the roads get a bit muddy during the rainy season, but we stay open regardless. It’s important for the local community to have somewhere nearby to go without having to travel all the way into the city. We’re just a group of people doing our best to look after our neighbors here in Sarabha, and we’re happy to be part of the community in this way.
