Our factory, Santosh Box Factory Pvt. Ltd., is at A/3 in the Industrial Estate at Partop Chowk. Being in an industrial estate means we are right in the thick of things with lots of other businesses nearby. Partop Chowk is a busy junction, and there is always a lot of movement with trucks loading and unloading boxes at all hours. Our unit, A/3, is an old building that has seen a lot of work over the years. The walls are a bit stained and the floors have scuffs from moving heavy pallets around, but it’s a solid place to work. Inside, the smell of cardboard and glue is something you notice right away, though we don’t even smell it anymore. We have a decent-sized team here, mostly local guys from around the neighborhood. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or a waiting lounge; if you come by, you’ll probably just see us working right there on the floor. We usually have the big shutters open to let in some air, which also lets in the noise of the traffic from the chowk. It’s a busy, sometimes messy place, but we know exactly where everything is. We take our tea breaks at the small stall just outside the estate gate, which is a good way to catch up on the local news. It’s just a regular factory doing regular work every day and we plan to stay here for many more years.
