Sachdeva Karyana Store

Sachdeva Karyana Store is our family place in Ludhiana. We are at 1033, 61/2, in the Janakpuri area. This part of Ludhiana is always busy with cycles and rickshaws going past. We have been dealing in karyana goods for a long time. That means we have big bags of grains, containers of ghee, and all sorts of spices. The shop is often full of the smell of open spice bags. We spend a lot of time measuring out portions for customers. Some people want just a hundred grams of something, while others buy for the whole month. We handle it all. It gets quite cold here in the winter, so we usually have a small heater and some hot tea behind the counter. The shop is not modern. It has old floors and walls that have been painted many times. We do not have any corporate rules or fancy uniforms. We just wear our sweaters and talk to whoever comes in. Most of our customers live just a few streets away. They know we are here if they run out of salt or sugar. We do not bother with advertising because everyone in Janakpuri already knows where to find us. It is just a steady, simple business that we have run for years. We do not have a computer, so we do all our math on bits of paper. It is just the way we have always done it.
