Raja Batteries

Our shop, Raja Batteries, is situated on Feroz Pur Road right in the Harnam Nagar area at number 3. It is easy to spot because of the stacks of old battery casings piled up near the door. The floor inside is concrete and has these dark stains from years of battery acid and grease. It is a heavy job because batteries weigh a lot and moving them around all day really takes a toll on your arms. We spend a lot of time checking water levels and hooking things up to the chargers. The air always has that slightly sharp smell of sulfur which we don't even notice anymore. When there is a power cut in the neighborhood we get really busy with people looking to get their inverters checked or buying new units. We have tools scattered all over the place and a workbench that is basically just a thick piece of wood covered in lead shavings. Sometimes we have to go out to someone's car when it won't start and swap the battery right there on the street. It is a dirty business and our clothes are always ruined with small holes from the acid. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room so people just stand around and watch us work. We just keep at it and make sure the batteries are holding a charge before they leave.
