If you know Basti Jodhewal in Ludhiana, you probably know how crowded and noisy it gets every single day. Premi Di Hatti is right in the middle of all that chaos. We’ve been operating out of this spot for quite some time now. It’s a typical small-town shop where the shelves are packed high and there’s barely enough room for two people to pass each other in the aisle. We sell a bit of everything that the local families need for their homes. Dealing with the Ludhiana heat in the summer isn't great, but we keep the fans going and just get on with the work. Customers come in with their lists, and we go climbing up the ladders to find whatever it is they’re after. It’s a bit messy at times, especially when the main road gets blocked up with rickshaws and bikes. We don't have a big corporate team, just us family members and a couple of helpers who’ve been with us forever. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the rush hours to pass. Most days are the same, which isn’t a bad thing. We know the neighbors and the other shopkeepers around Basti Jodhewal well. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It's just a shop. You come in, get what you need, have a quick chat about the weather or the price of things, and you go on your way. That’s just how we do things here every day.
