Shiv Shankar Hardware Corporation

Shiv Shankar Hardware Corporation is tucked away at B-14 No. 181 in Prem Nagar, Islam Ganj. It’s a neighborhood spot, so it feels a bit more personal than the big industrial places. The shop is filled to the ceiling with all sorts of hardware items. We have boxes of nails, hinges, and tools stacked everywhere. It’s sometimes a bit hard to navigate the aisles because we try to fit as much as we can into the space. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who walk in from the Prem Nagar area. Most of them are looking for something small to fix a problem at home or for a local construction job. We don’t have a fancy computer system for everything; a lot of it is just knowing where things are kept on the shelves. The light in the shop isn't the brightest, but we know our way around Islam Ganj. It gets a bit noisy with the street sounds coming in through the open front. We don't put on any acts here. It’s just a regular hardware shop where we spend our days counting out screws and helping people find what they need for their repairs. It’s a bit dusty and the floors are worn down from all the foot traffic over the years, but it’s our place and we just keep it going one day at a time without much fuss for everyone.
