Prabhakar Ankur Architect

We are over at 51, Visual Nagar Extension, right off Pakhowal Road. Prabhakar Ankur Architect is basically just a few of us working on drawings and plans all day. It’s a bit cluttered in here with all the paper rolls and samples, but that’s just how we work. We’ve been in this part of town for a while. Designing houses and buildings is what we do, but we don't treat it like some high-art thing. It’s more about making sure the walls are straight and the rooms make sense for the families living there. Pakhowal Road gets a lot of traffic, so it’s easy to find us. I remember when we first moved into this office. It felt too big at first, but now every corner is filled with something. We spend a lot of time talking to contractors and making sure things are actually being built right. Sometimes we lose track of time arguing over where a window should go. It’s a lot of practical stuff, not just drawing pretty pictures. We aren't a giant firm with a front desk person or anything. Usually, if the phone rings, one of us just grabs it while we’re looking at a blueprint. It’s a busy life but we like being part of the community here in Visual Nagar. Most of our projects are right around here. It feels good to see a house finished and know we had a hand in it.
