If you are heading down G T Road and pass by the Arora Palace, you’ll see P K Watch Centre right nearby. It’s a small shop, easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. I’ve got a sign out front, but it’s a bit faded from the sun. Inside, the walls are lined with clocks of all shapes. Some of them chime on the hour, which can be a bit startling if you aren't expecting it. I’ve been working with watches since I was a young man. It’s a trade that requires a lot of patience and very steady hands. The G T Road is always noisy with trucks and buses, but once you step inside, it feels a bit quieter. I have a small magnifying loupe that I use for the really fine work. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, but the glass helps. People stop in mostly for quick fixes, like a broken pin or a battery that died. I also sell some new watches, but the repair side is what keeps me busy. The counter is made of old wood and has a lot of nicks in it. I don’t use any computer systems; I write everything down in a big ledger with a blue pen. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for me. If you need a watch looked at, just come by after the morning rush. I'll be there sitting at my bench.
