Om Prakash Karyana Stores

Om Prakash Karyana Stores is a small grocery shop located in Abdullapur Basti. We deal in all the daily essentials like rice, flour, pulses, and cooking oil. The shop is usually crowded with sacks of grain that we have to move around to reach the shelves in the back. It is a bit of a workout every morning just getting everything positioned right. We use an old manual scale for some things, though we have a digital one now for the smaller items. People from the Basti come in all day long, often just for a small amount of sugar or a single bar of soap. We know most of our customers' families and what they usually buy, so we often have their order ready before they even ask. The walls are lined with boxes of matches, tea, and packets of spices. It can get a bit dusty with all the flour and grains being handled, so we are always dusting off the counter. The street outside is narrow and can get quite muddy when it rains, which makes it a bit of a mess when people walk in. We don't mind it much, as that is just part of living and working in Abdullapur Basti. We just keep our heads down and make sure we have enough stock for everyone who relies on us for their daily cooking needs.
