Mehak Florist & Gift Shop

Our shop is at 2547 B-X X Bhagatalao, right where the old Pratap Press used to be in Ghumar Mandi. It’s a busy corner. Every morning starts with the smell of fresh roses and lilies being unloaded from the truck. It’s a lot of work, trimming the stems and making sure everything has enough water so it doesn't wilt in the heat. The floor is almost always wet from the buckets. We also have a section for gifts, mostly stuff like photo frames and little statues. It’s a bit of a mix, flowers on one side and boxes on the other. Ghumar Mandi is a hectic place to work, always something happening outside the window. I spend a lot of time cleaning up fallen petals and bits of ribbon. Sometimes a customer wants a bouquet in a huge hurry and we have to scramble to get it tied up while they wait. The scissors are always getting lost under the wrapping paper. We’ve been in this building a long time. The walls are a bit stained and the ceiling is high, which makes it hard to change the lightbulbs. It’s not a fancy boutique, just a place where we work with our hands all day. We see a lot of people on their happiest days and some on their saddest too. It’s just the nature of the business.
