Lakshmi Motor Store

We've been here at Kamla Nehru Market on G.T Road for quite a while now. The shop is small but it gets the job done. Every morning starts with opening up and checking the stock we have on hand. Engine parts and things for the trucks passing through make up most of what we sell. Outside, the traffic on the main road is always loud, though you get used to that noise after a few years. When we get busy, especially on Mondays, the shelves can get a bit messy. Looking for specific bolts or filters usually means digging through the back for a customer. Me and a couple of others are the only ones working here. Spending all day cleaning grease off our hands is just part of the routine. Chai comes twice a day from the tea stall nearby, which is a big help when it gets hot. There isn't a fancy showroom or anything like that in this building. Just a regular counter and some old wooden racks are what we have. Regulars who live around here or drivers passing through make up most of our customers. Since they know where we are, we keep things simple. If we don't have a part in stock, getting it by the next day is the plan. Counting inventory and keeping track of sales involves a lot of manual work. Even though the lighting isn't great in the back, we know where everything is kept. It helps to have a system, even if it's just in our heads.
