Khalsa Karyana Store

Khalsa Karyana Store is at Shop Number 737, Street Number 2, Basti Jodhewal, Ludhiana - 141007, right near Basti Chowk. It’s a basic grocery shop, nothing more, nothing less. We sell things like rice, sugar, tea, and other stuff people need for their kitchens. Being so close to Basti Chowk means it’s always crowded and there’s always someone coming in for a last-minute item. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with sacks and boxes. It’s hard work, mostly just hauling heavy bags of grain and weighing them out for customers. My back usually aches by the end of the day. We have a small fan in the corner that doesn't do much when the shop is full of people. We’ve been here in Street Number 2 for years, so we’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own homes. We don’t use any barcode scanners; we just know the prices and add them up. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to work in the dark for a while. It’s not a fancy supermarket, and we don’t try to be one. It’s just a place for the locals to get their groceries without having to travel too far. We keep it simple and just focus on keeping the essentials in stock. There is always a lot to do, like checking the expiry dates or cleaning the shelves when things get dusty. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know.
