Karwal Gears

Karwal House is our spot on Guru Nanak Street No. 7, right across from the I.T.I. on Gill Road. It’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, but we’ve been here a long time. The shop is filled with gear-cutting machines that have been around for a while, and they still work just fine for what we need. Making gears takes some patience because if the teeth aren't cut right, the whole thing is useless. We spend a lot of time hovering over the machines and making small adjustments. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so many tools and parts sitting around in bins. Most of the people working here are locals who walk or bike in every morning. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy stuff for us, so we just tell people what we do when they stop by the gate. The street outside is usually busy with traffic and people going to the I.T.I., so it’s never really quiet around here. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just part of life in this area. We just focus on getting the gears finished so the customers can pick them up and get back to their own work. It’s a small operation, but it keeps us all going. Most days are long, but we just stick to the routine.
