Kartar Confectionery

Kartar Confectionery is tucked away in Janta Nagar. It’s one of those shops that’s been around the corner for as long as I can remember. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the front. Inside, the shelves are mostly filled with everyday things like packets of chips, local sweets, and basic groceries. The floor is a bit uneven in the back, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound when it’s on the high setting. Janta Nagar is a crowded area, so there’s always a lot of foot traffic right outside the door. We have a small fridge for milk and curd which we get delivered every morning. Most of our customers are just neighbors who live in the surrounding streets. They come in for a quick snack or if they ran out of sugar at home. We keep a ledger on the counter to keep track of things. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we usually keep the front shutters half-down to block out the direct sunlight. The shop is small enough that you can see everything from the doorway. We don't spend much on decorations; it’s mostly just boxes and jars everywhere you look. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve gotten used to the daily routine of opening and closing. Sometimes the neighbors stay for a chat, which makes the day go by faster. We are just here doing our thing in the heart of Janta Nagar.
