Kakkar General & Gift House

We are located at 15 Friends Colony, which is right near Avtar Sweets on the Kochar Market Road. Kakkar General & Gift House has been a part of this neighborhood for a good bit of time. It's a handy spot because people come for sweets next door and then realize they need a gift or some general household items from us. We carry a mix of things, not just gifts. You can find stationery, some grooming stuff, and then the bigger gift sets too. The shop is usually full of boxes because we get deliveries pretty often. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we manage. My brother and I take turns behind the counter. We see a lot of students and office workers passing by. Kochar Market Road is always moving, so there is never a dull moment. We don't have any fancy displays. We just put the new stuff out front so people can see what arrived. It’s a practical shop. If you need a pen or a birthday present for a cousin, we probably have it somewhere on the shelves. We just try to keep the doors open and the stock moving. It’s a simple way to make a living and we like the people around here. We have some fans running but it still gets warm in the summer afternoons.
