J.V. Watch Co.

We’ve been here at Chaura Bazar for a long time now. If you head down Center Street near the Books Market, you’ll find us right by the Valaabh Bahi Patl area. It’s a busy spot with lots of people moving through to get their books or just walking through the bazaar. J.V. Watch Co. is a small place, honestly. My desk is usually covered in tiny screws and those little magnifying glasses you wear on your eye. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside, but we keep the watches inside the glass cases as clean as we can. People come in mostly because their watch stopped ticking or they need a new strap because the old leather one finally gave out. Sometimes someone brings in a clock that’s been in their family for thirty years and it’s stopped working. I spend a lot of my day just sitting under the lamp, looking into the guts of these machines. It’s quiet work even though the street outside is always loud with scooters and people shouting. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just some old shelves and the tools I’ve used since I started. If you are walking past the market and need a battery changed or just want to see if an old watch can run again, you can just step in. We are usually here from morning until the market starts to wind down in the evening. It's just what we do.
