Working at Jindal Motors on Firozpur Road means your hands are never really clean. We are right in the Bharat Nagar area, which is a good spot for people coming into the city. The shop is mostly just a big open space where we can pull in a couple of vehicles at a time. There is the smell of engine oil and old tires everywhere. I’ve been around engines since I was a kid, so the sounds they make tell me more than any computer would. Bharat Nagar is a busy place, and Ferozepur Road always has someone in a hurry. We just do the repairs as they come in. Some days it’s just oil changes and checking brakes, other days we have to take an entire engine apart. We have a bunch of old tools that have been passed down, and they still work better than the new stuff. It’s not a fancy dealership with a waiting room and free coffee. You usually just stand around or sit on a plastic chair while we work. The floor is stained with every kind of fluid a car can leak. We just try to get people back on the road so they can get where they are going. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and sometimes we stay late to finish a job. That is just how we operate here in Ludhiana. No big fuss, just honest mechanical work for the neighborhood.
