J R Labhu Ram & Co has been part of the scenery here in Chaura Bazar for a long time. We are right in the middle of the Lakkar Bazar area, which is always a bit of a chaotic place to be. The shop is old and the wooden shelves have seen better days, but they hold everything we need. You can hear the sounds of the market all day long, from the tea sellers to the rickshaw drivers arguing about the narrow lanes. We mostly deal with the daily trade and the regulars who have been coming to this corner for decades. It’s the kind of place where things are piled up high, and if you don't know where something is, you might never find it. The floors are worn down from so many people walking over them. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so we still rely on the old ledgers and a good memory. When the sun hits the street, it gets quite stuffy inside, so we keep the doors wide open and just deal with the dust. It’s not a fancy business, just a straightforward shop where we show up, talk to the vendors, and handle the goods. Most of the time, we’re just sitting on the stools out front, waiting for the next delivery or catching up with the neighbors about the local news.
