Our place, Ishmeet Forgings Pvt Ltd, is located at 595/8 on G.T. Road, right in the lane by the old Campa Cola factory. That factory is a good landmark because everyone knows where it is. We do heavy metal forging here, which is basically just heating up steel until it’s red and then hammering it into the shape we need. It’s a loud process. The thud of the hammers can be felt through the floorboards of the little office room we have in the front. The lane outside is a bit narrow, so when the trucks come to pick up the forged parts, it’s always a bit of a struggle to get them turned around. We’ve been at this spot for years and the walls are covered in soot from the furnaces. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and we all go home with dark smudges on our clothes. We don’t have a polished sales pitch. Usually, people just call us and ask if we can handle a specific size of forging, and we tell them yes or no. Most of our crew is made up of guys who have been doing this for decades. We aren't looking to expand into some massive company. Keeping the furnaces hot and the hammers working is our main focus so we can finish the jobs we have on the books. It’s straightforward work for people who don’t mind a bit of heat and noise.
