Sond Gears (P) Ltd. is located at No. 27-R, and if you walked in, you’d see it’s a pretty busy place. We make gears, and that means there is always oil on the floor and the smell of cut metal in the air. It isn't a place for someone who wants to stay clean all day. We have various lathes and machines that have been with us for a long time, and they still do the job just fine. We aren't into those big corporate meetings or anything like that. Usually, we just stand around a machine and talk about how to fix a part or get an order out faster. The office is just a small corner with a table and a couple of chairs where we handle the billing. Most of our clients are other local shops who need specific parts made to order. We don't have a website that does anything fancy; we mostly just talk to people on the phone or face-to-face. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend hours getting them back in line, but that’s part of the trade. It’s a regular shop where we work hard and go home tired. No. 27-R is our home base, and we’ve been comfortable here for years. We just keep our heads down and make sure the gears are right before they go out. It's noisy, but we like it.
