We focus on the cold rolling division work, which means a lot of technical stuff with steel and metal. It’s greasy and heavy work, but it’s what pays the bills. Pal Singh keeps an eye on the place and makes sure everything stays in order. We have a mix of younger guys and some older hands who have been with Hero for decades. The building is older, with some cracks in the pavement and walls that could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose just fine. We don't worry too much about the looks of the place as long as the machines are running and the output is right. Lunchtimes are usually spent sitting near the entrance, chatting about the local news or the weather. It’s a very grounded atmosphere. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words; we just want to get the work done and head home to our families at the end of the shift.
