Harsimar General Store And Gift Centre sits right in the middle of the Main Market in Kot Mangal Singh, specifically opposite Street Number 4. It’s one of those shops where you can find a bit of everything if you look long enough. We’ve been here serving the local folks for years, dealing with the daily rush of the market. Since we are both a general store and a gift center, we carry everything from household necessities to fancy clocks and photo frames. The morning usually starts with us pulling up the shutters and setting out some of the bigger items on the pavement to catch the eye of passersby. It gets quite loud with the traffic and people bargaining outside, but we’re used to the noise by now. Inside, the aisles are a bit narrow because we try to fit as much as possible on the shelves. You might have to squeeze past someone to get to the stationery or the kitchenware. We don't have any big advertisements or fancy lights. It’s just us, working the counter and helping people find what’s on their list. Sometimes someone comes in looking for a specific gift for a relative, and we spend time digging through the back to see what we have. It’s a busy life in the Main Market, but it keeps us on our toes. We just try to keep the shelves stocked with things people actually need.
