Amar Textiles

You can find us on Street No. 4 in Guru Nanak Dev Nagar. We are very close to Sunder Nagar Chowk, which is a landmark most people in this part of town know well. We deal in textiles and fabrics. Our shop is often filled with rolls of cloth stacked one on top of the other. It’s a busy neighborhood and there is always noise from the street outside. We have been here for a while now, serving the local tailors and families who want to buy fabric for their clothes. It’s a simple setup with a big cutting table in the middle of the room. We spend most of our day measuring out meters of cloth and folding things back up. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting the heavy rolls and moving them around to show customers the different patterns. We don't have a big marketing plan. People just know that if they come to Street 4, we will have something that works for them. Sometimes the shop gets a bit dusty from all the lint, but we try to sweep it out every morning. It’s a family business and we all take turns behind the counter. We like the energy of being near the chowk. There is always someone walking by or a delivery truck trying to squeeze through the street. It’s our little corner of the world. It is a bit loud sometimes but we are used to it.
