Dashmesh Iron Mill Store is Shop No. 41 in the Guru Nanak Dev Market, right on Gill Road and opposite the Sardar Complex. It’s a heavy kind of place because we deal with iron and metal parts all day. The shop smells like grease and cold steel. We have shelves filled with tools, bolts, and various iron goods that are quite heavy to move around. Most of our customers are mechanics or builders who know exactly what they need, so we spend a lot of time climbing ladders to find specific items. Gill Road is always busy, and the market can be quite chaotic with all the motorcycles and delivery vans. We’ve got a small counter where we write out the bills by hand. The floors are a bit scratched up from dragging heavy crates, but that’s to be expected in a mill store. We’ve been in Guru Nanak Dev Market for quite a while, and we’ve seen the area change a lot. It’s a tiring job, lifting metal and dealing with the constant noise, but it’s what we know. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know where every single nut and bolt is kept. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. We just open the shutters in the morning, help the people who come in, and close up when the sun goes down.
