Gupta Garments

Gupta Garments is tucked away in Street Number 2 in Mohalla Fatehgarh, right in the heart of Gandhi Nagar. If you know the area, you know it’s always crowded with people looking for fabrics and clothes. We’ve had our shop here at B-Ii 1718/22A/2 for a long time. It’s a small space, packed with rolls of cloth and finished pieces ready to go. There isn't much room to walk around once the new stock arrives on Mondays. We spend most of our time sewing and checking the hems. It’s a lot of sitting and focused work, so our backs sometimes hurt by the end of the day. My uncle started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We don't do fancy fashion shows. We just make clothes that people can wear every day without them falling apart. Sometimes the sewing machines need a bit of oil or a new needle, and that’s about the only drama we have here. Gandhi Nagar is a loud place, always full of talk and the sound of rickshaws, but inside the shop, we just focus on the thread and the needles. We get a lot of locals coming in, and we know most of their sizes by heart now. It’s not a big company with hundreds of employees. It’s just us and a few helpers making sure every shirt is okay. It’s what we do. It's a busy life, but we like it.
