Gandhi Brothers Lottery

Shop No. 55 is where we are located. We’re right in the middle of G.T.B Market on Clock Tower Road. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze down here because we are situated right below the Bank of India. It stays a bit cooler in the shade though, which is nice when the summer heat hits. Gandhi Brothers Lottery has been in this exact spot for a long time. We mostly sell the regular lottery tickets that people come looking for every day. The market is always a noisy place. You can hear the scooters and the shouting from Clock Tower Road from the moment we open up. People come in with a lot of hope. Some just buy one ticket, while others have a whole system and buy a bunch at once. We have a small glass counter that I try to keep clean, but it always ends up with smudges. My cousin sits in the shop with me most of the day. We drink a lot of tea and chat with the neighbors. It’s a small space, so if more than two people come in, it starts feeling crowded. The bank upstairs makes us easy to find if you’re new to the area. We don't have any of those flashing neon signs. Just the tickets and a few stools for people to sit on. Some days are slow, but when a big draw is coming up, the line stretches out into the walkway.
