Freightways

Freightways is over at unit 103 in the PSWC-CFS Complex. We are right in the Focal Point area, which is pretty much the heart of the industrial side of things around here. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, what with all the trucks and the dust from the yard, but it’s where the work happens. The office is practical. We have some sturdy desks and a lot of shelves for all the files we have to keep. Most of the day, you’ll hear the sound of containers being moved outside or the hum of the air conditioner trying to fight the heat. We don't get many visitors who aren't drivers or agents, so we don't worry too much about having a polished look. We wear comfortable clothes because it gets sweaty out there. Lunch is usually something we bring from home and eat quickly before the next set of papers needs signing. It’s a busy environment and there is always something that needs attention. We’ve all worked in logistics for years, so we don't get surprised by much anymore. Sometimes a truck is late or a document is missing, and we just deal with it. There isn't any magic to it, just staying on top of the details. It’s a gritty job, but it’s ours. We’ve been at this location for a long time and we know all the other folks in the complex. It feels like home now.
