We’re over on Street Number 4 in the Guru Nanak area. Our place is number 1284/58. It’s a bit of a maze back here among all the shops, but we’ve been here long enough that we know every turn. We deal with various supplies and general trading. It’s basically a warehouse and a small office combined into one space. Boxes are stacked pretty high against the walls and we often have to use a rickety ladder to reach the top ones. The street gets quite narrow, so when the delivery trucks come, everyone in the alley has to move their scooters. It’s a very lively neighborhood. We know the shopkeepers on both sides of us quite well. We even share the same water tap. The office has a ceiling fan that makes a bit of a clicking noise, but we’ve grown used to it over the years. We don't have any fancy furniture, just a couple of heavy wooden tables and some metal chairs for guests. We spend most of the day checking the inventory and making sure the orders are packed up correctly. It’s mostly manual work and we don't use computers for every little detail. A lot of our records are still kept in those traditional red account books. It’s the way we learned to do it. We just want to make sure our customers get what they paid for without any unnecessary trouble.
