Deep Confectionery

Our little shop is located on Dugri Laxmi Road in the Bodeli area of Vadodara. It is a place filled with glass jars full of colorful candies and packets of biscuits that we stack up high. We start early in the day to get everything ready before the heat really sets in. The shelves are mostly full of local snacks and sweets that people like to take home for their tea time. It gets very lively in the afternoons when the school nearby lets out and the kids come running in with their pocket money. We have a small fridge for cold drinks which is always popular during the summer months. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow road for a bit while we unload the new boxes. It is not a huge place, so we have to be clever about where we put things so people don't trip. There is a specific smell of sugar and baked goods that hangs around the doorway. We spend a lot of time wiping down the counters because sticky fingers are just part of the job here. It is a simple business where we know most of our customers by their first names or at least by what they usually buy. We don’t go for anything flashy, just keeping the bins full and the floor swept as much as possible between the busy rushes of people.
