Centex Fabrics Export Unit

Our unit, Centex Fabrics, is over at D- 217 in Phase 7 of the Focal Point. If you know the area, you know it’s a lot of factories and textile units all grouped together. We deal with a lot of fabric, so there’s always lint in the air and stacks of rolls everywhere you look. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but we try to keep the packing area tidy enough to work. We have a few long tables for inspecting the material. The light isn't the best in the back, but we make do with some extra lamps. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves. We’ve got a small team, and everyone knows their role, from unloading the trucks to the final packing. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. Most of our orders come from long-term contacts we've known for years. Sometimes a shipment gets delayed at the port, and those are the stressful days when the phone won't stop ringing. But mostly, it’s just the sound of the cutting machines and people talking. We have a small kettle in the corner for making tea throughout the day. The building is a bit old, and the stairs creak when you walk up, but it’s home for us for about ten hours a day. We just focus on getting the fabric out on time and making sure the counts are right. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know.
