Our little spot, Bhatia Arts, is over at Green Field 4th Main Road, number 609/7 E. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it’s a bit quieter than the main markets. We’ve got a small front area and a larger workspace in the back. The walls are covered in old projects and calendars from three years ago that we never took down. We spend most of our time working with colors and different materials. It’s mostly manual work, so our clothes usually have a few stains on them. We aren't fancy people. We just like the process of making things from scratch. The 4th Main Road gets some foot traffic, but mostly it's folks who already know we’re here. We don't spend money on big signs or ads. Word of mouth seems to work well enough for us. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit and wait, which gives us a chance to tidy up a bit. We've got a small radio that plays the news most mornings. Working here feels natural. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide something useful for the people around here. It’s a steady pace, and we like the routine of opening up every morning. We just do the best we can with the tools we have. Some days are busier than others, but that’s just how it goes when you’re running a small place like this.
