You can find Benz Auto Corporation (India) over at Gill Textile Colony 40 A. We are mostly surrounded by other workshops and some older textile buildings. Our focus is mainly on auto parts and mechanical components. The shop always has that specific smell of grease and new metal. We spend our days looking through catalogs or searching the back shelves for specific parts that someone needs for their vehicle. It’s a messy job sometimes, and our clothes usually show it by the time we head home. We have a lot of heavy metal pieces lying around, so you have to watch where you step. The workbench in the back is usually covered in tools and half-disassembled parts that we are trying to figure out. Gill Textile Colony is a busy place, but it has a local feel where everyone knows what the person next door is working on. We get a mix of mechanics and individual owners coming in. Sometimes they bring a part that is completely worn out and ask if we have something that matches. It’s like a puzzle sometimes. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a solid, practical place where we work with our hands and try to keep vehicles running. The light in the shop isn't great, so we use a lot of handheld lamps when we're looking at things closely. It gets the job done.
