Batra Confectionery

Started the shop in Model Town near Crawford Market quite some time back. It's usually busy around here especially in the evenings when people finish work. We keep the glass counters clean and stock up on things people ask for daily. Sometimes the sun hits the front window too hard so we have to pull the shade down. Most folks around here know us by name and we know what they usually want before they even say it. It’s not a huge place but we make it work with what we have. Shelves are always full of biscuits and candies. Some days the delivery trucks come late and it gets a bit hectic moving boxes around in the narrow aisle. Crawford Market has its own rhythm and we are just a small part of that noise. We don't have any fancy signs or anything. Just the name over the door. People stop by for a quick chat or to pick up something sweet for their kids. The floor gets dusty with all the foot traffic but that's just how it is. We try to keep things organized but sometimes a box of chocolates ends up where the chips should be. It’s a lot of standing all day. My legs get tired by nine o'clock. But seeing the regular faces makes the time go by. We just open up in the morning and stay until the lights in the market start going out one by one.
