We are situated over by Jaldhar Bye Pass near Samrala Chowk, specifically at B 1083. It is a spot where there is always a lot of dust from the heavy trucks going past the bypass. The shop is basically a large shed where we keep all the vehicles and parts we are working on. It’s not a quiet place because the sound of the road never really stops. We spend most of our time out in the yard or under a hood. There is a small office but it’s mostly used for keeping the paperwork and a few spare keys. My boots are always covered in grit from the ground outside. We get a lot of travelers passing through who need something looked at quickly so they can get back on the road. The locals also bring their cars in when they hear a rattle or a squeak. We have some old posters on the walls and a calendar that is a few months behind. The water cooler is always empty by noon during the summer. We don't really do much advertising because people just see the sign from the road and pull in. It’s a straightforward business. We show up early and stay until the last job is done. Sometimes we stay late using flashlights if the overhead light isn't enough to see the small parts. It is just the way we have always done things here at the bypass.
