Siddiqui & Co. is located on Campwell Road in the Wazirbagh Mohallah, which is right in the heart of the Chowk area. If you know anything about the Chowk Market, you know it’s one of the busiest and most crowded parts of the city. There’s a certain energy here that you don’t find anywhere else, with the narrow lanes and the constant stream of people and rickshaws going by. Our building is old, like most of the structures around here, and it has a lot of character even if the walls are a bit crumbly in places. We’ve been here for a long time, and we’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, but our day-to-day work stays pretty much the same. We handle a variety of goods and the place is usually packed with items from floor to ceiling. It can be a bit of a maze sometimes, and we are the only ones who really know where everything is kept. The noise from the street is always there, a mix of vendors shouting and horns honking, but we’ve learned to tune it out while we work. We don't have a big corporate office or a polished showroom; it’s just a traditional business where we talk to our customers face-to-face and do things the old-fashioned way. It’s a lot of manual record-keeping and moving things around by hand, but that’s how it’s always been done in the Chowk. We just keep the business running.
