Sharal Krishna Hospital

Sharal Krishna Hospital has been sitting here at B-11 Sector-E for a good while now, right across from Kindry Bhawan in Aliganj. Most mornings start early, usually before the traffic on the main road gets too loud. We unlock the front doors and start setting things up, making sure the floors are clean and the chairs are ready. It’s not a fancy place, but it does what it needs to do. People come in from all over Aliganj, some looking worried and others just here for a quick check. My desk is near the entrance, so I see everyone who walks through. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out or turn on the backup generator. It gets busy around noon when the sun is high and the room starts to warm up. We know most of the people who live nearby because they’ve been coming to us for years. It’s a lot of paperwork and talking to families about their health. You get used to the smell of disinfectant and the sound of the old ceiling fans humming overhead. There is a small tea stall just down the street where the staff usually goes during their short breaks. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, it can get a little crowded in the waiting area. We just take it one person at a time. It’s honest work, and we stay late most nights until the last patient leaves. That’s just how it goes here in this part of town.
