Shanti Eye Clinic

If you walk down Jalnigam Road in the Palaganj area, you will eventually run into Shanti Eye Clinic. It is not a huge place, just a local spot where we help people with their vision. We have been in Balaganj for a while now. Most mornings start with unlocking the front gate and turning on the lights in the waiting area. The chairs are simple, nothing too fancy, but they do the job for the folks waiting to see the doctor. We see a lot of grandmothers coming in because their eyes are getting a bit cloudy, or kids who cannot see the blackboard at school anymore. The traffic on Jalnigam Road is usually pretty loud, so you can hear the rickshaws and bikes going past while we work. We keep a stack of old magazines on the table, though most people just look at their phones these days. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the main road, so we are always wiping down the glass cases where the frames are kept. Dealing with eyes is quiet work, mostly just testing lenses and looking into those machines. We do not really do big advertisements or anything like that. People mostly just know we are here because they live nearby or their neighbor told them to come. It is a plain place that stays busy from morning until we close up for the evening.
