Maa Annpurna General Store

Maa Annpurna General Store is situated on Dandiya Road in Lucknow, specifically in the 226006 area. We are near the Sri Ram Marriage Hall, which means we get very busy whenever there is a wedding or a big function going on. You can hear the music and see the decorations from our front door. The shop itself is quite simple. We have shelves lining the walls from floor to ceiling, filled with all the general items you’d expect to find in a neighborhood store. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than two or three people come in at once, but we make it work. We have been running things here for a long time. The floor is made of plain cement and the lighting is just a couple of long tube lights that flicker sometimes. We don't have a mission statement or any of that talk. We just show up every day, lift the heavy shutter, and start working. There is a lot of dust from the road, so we spend a good amount of time cleaning the jars and packets. The marriage hall brings in strangers sometimes, but mostly we deal with the locals who live on Dandiya Road. We like the rhythm of it, the way the day starts quiet and gets busier as the sun moves across the sky. It’s just a normal part of the Lucknow landscape, sitting here and serving the community.
