If you’re driving down Raibareilly Road and pass the Sardar Patel Dental College, you’ll see Khan Market right across the way. That’s where Balaji Fittings is situated. We’ve been here for several years, selling all the small parts and pieces that keep a house running. It’s a crowded little shop, packed with bins of screws, pipes, and all kinds of hardware. Honestly, if you ask for something specific, I might need a minute to remember exactly which shelf it’s tucked away on. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the metal, but that’s just the nature of the work. We aren't one of those big home improvement warehouses where you can't find anyone to help you. It’s usually just me or my lad behind the counter. We’ve seen the area change quite a bit since we opened, with more buildings going up every year. It keeps us busy, which is good. Sometimes the students from the dental college pop over for something, though usually not for hardware. We don't do any flashy promotions or big sales. We just keep the stock replenished and try to be helpful when someone comes in with a broken valve and no idea how to fix it. It’s a straightforward business, and we like the rhythm of the market. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s what we do every day.
