We have a place called Home Styles located out on Sitapur Road. It is a fairly large space, which we need because furniture takes up so much room. We aren't one of those high-end boutiques where you feel like you can't touch anything. It is just a regular shop where we keep sofas, dining tables, and beds lined up so people can see them. Most of our customers are families from the nearby residential areas who are looking for something sturdy for their homes. The traffic on Sitapur Road is almost always a mess, so we spend a lot of time coordinating our delivery truck to make sure it doesn't get stuck for hours. My cousins and I run the whole thing. We do the unloading, the sales, and often the deliveries too. It is a lot of physical labor, moving heavy wooden pieces around the floor to make room for new stock. We don't have any fancy catalogs or a big marketing budget. Usually, someone just sees our sign from the road and decides to pull over and take a look. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a piece of furniture has a scratch, we point it out. We just want people to find something they like that fits in their house. It’s a straightforward way to make a living and it keeps us on our feet from morning until the sun goes down.
