Hamid Unani General Store

Hamid Unani General Store is right on the Khurram Nagar Main Road. We are on Spot Road as well, which is a busy part of Lucknow. What makes us a bit different is that we carry Unani medicines along with the usual general store items. It means the shop has a specific smell to it, a mix of herbs and spices and sometimes just laundry soap. My family has been involved with this for a long time. People come in with all sorts of small health complaints, looking for something traditional. At the same time, someone else might just want a bottle of cold soda or a packet of biscuits. It is a strange mix of things to sell, but it works for the people in this neighborhood. The main road is always loud with horns and the sound of rickshaws going past. We have a small counter where we sit and wait for the next person to walk in. The drawers are full of different roots and powders that we have to keep dry. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything sorted out properly. Sometimes we get the orders wrong or a delivery is late, but we just deal with it as it happens. We don't have any big goals, just to keep the shop running and serve the local crowd.
