Exclusive Oriental Rugs

You’ll find us at 206 B in the Chandra Nagari Apartment building on Aish Bagh Road. We’re right across from the Bank of India, which makes it easy to give people directions. The shop is full of rugs, as you might guess from the name Exclusive Oriental Rugs. There are stacks of them everywhere, from the floor almost to the ceiling. It smells like wool and a bit of dust in here, but we like that smell. It’s the smell of work. Moving these carpets around is heavy work, so we don't really need to go to a gym. We spend a lot of our time unrolling things for people to see and then rolling them back up again when they’re done. Our hands are usually a bit rough from the fibers. The apartment building isn't a traditional store front, so it feels a bit more personal, like you’re coming into someone’s home. We have a small desk tucked in the corner where we keep the books and take calls. The traffic on Aish Bagh Road is always moving, and you can hear the horns honking all day. It’s a bit chaotic outside, but inside with all the heavy fabric, it’s actually pretty quiet. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we don't plan on changing much. We just show the rugs and tell people what we know about where they came from. That is pretty much how we spend our days.
